Lost Ark progression guide to upgrade your gear and reach Tier 3

Lost Ark progression is first about character level, but then moves on to item levels and levels. That’s all the advanced players talk about: how to get to level 1, how to go from T1 to T2, and how to (finally!) get to level 3.

What to do after level 50 is up to you, but if your goal is to level up, here’s a list of final activities to prioritize. We’ll start at level 0 (or 10, really), then we’ll head over to that level 3 mythic piece of legendary armor. Ready?

What is the Lost Ark progression?

In a nutshell, Lost Ark progression is split between character leveling in the early game and item leveling in the late game. Character leveling in the early game refers to the journey from level 10 (after the prologue) to level 50. However, while level 50 is often referred to as the level cap, this isn’t actually true: the highest level in Lost Ark is 60. Going from level 50 to level 60 takes a long time (we’re talking months here).

When your character level reaches 50, your item level becomes the most important progress indicator. And make no mistake, the game is definitely not “finished” yet. In fact, starting at level 50, the progression becomes less linear as you unlock more end-game content.

Haven’t you reached level 50 yet? Then there is no need to worry about item levels yet. Instead, you should focus on Luterra’s political affairs. After completing the prologue, the best way to level up is to simply follow the main questline. It is advisable to do the side quests as well, as they are relatively easy and usually found in the same areas as the main quests.

Starting in Prideholme, Rethramis, the first set of main quests will take you through Yudia, West Luterra, and East Luterra before giving you a ship. While the ship gives you a way to explore new regions and islands (use our Lost Ark island guide to help you do that), it’s best to follow the main quests (which have now turned blue in the Journal) on new continents.

In short, visit the continents in this order to reach the corresponding character level and item levels:

  • Do the main quests in Rethramis, Yudia and Luterra (west and east). You should be around level 35 by the time you complete “Harpa!” exercise. search.
  • Sail to Tortoyk and continue world quests to level up to 40+.
  • Sail to Anikka to reach level 45+.
  • Sailing to Arthetine. You will likely reach level 50 before completing the final world quests on that continent. Your item level should also be around 250.

From now on, things are not as simple as “follow the quest line”. You are free to choose which endgame activities you like. However, if you want to quickly upgrade from item level 250 to item level 302, you must do one of the following:

  • Complete the North Vern questline.unlock Chaos Dungeon and start grinding until you have a full set of level 302 items.
  • Alternatively you can head to Shushire and do the main quest line complete. You will receive a full set of level 302 gear at the end.

Also, be sure to do the Awakening Skill quest after completing North Vern, as you don’t want to miss out on a powerful skill. Then engage in the following activities to level up from item 302 to item level 460:

  • Raid Guardian Level 1 (302+)
  • Chaos Keep: North Vern Resonance
  • Abyssal Dungeons: Ancient Elveria (340+)
  • Don’t forget to do Una’s tasks and go from island to island. Some islands, like Panda Island and Dreamgull Island, are great sources of upgrade materials.

At item level 460, you can visit the continent of Rohendel, where you can find the second awakening quest. Perform the full Rohendel questline first, then level up to item level 600 by doing the following:

  • Abyssal Dungeons: Ghost Palace (460+)
  • Run Rohendel’s Chaos Dungeon
  • Raid Guardian Level 2 (460+)

Completing these dungeons and tasks will reward you with all the Guardian Stones, Destruction Stones, and Harmony Fragments you need to upgrade your gear to +15 (item level 600). Make sure to get your second awakening ability after completing the Rohendel questline.

Next goal: level up from level 1 to level 2. Unfortunately, you’re a bit limited in your choice of dungeon until you hit item level 800. Here’s what you can do to level up from item 600 to level 802:

  • Sail to Yorn and complete Yorn’s questline.
  • Run the Yorn Chaos dungeon (600+) until you have level 802 armor (T2 rare armor).
  • As always, keep doing Una’s chores.. Also, make sure you don’t forget to improve your Records, Card Games, and Reports scores.

To level up from level 2 to level 3 (item level 802 to 1100), complete the following activities:

  • Abyssal Dungeons: Ark of Arrogance (840+) to get epic T2 armor.
  • Guardian Raid Level 3 (802+) and Level 4 (960+)
  • Once you reach item level 960, sail to Feiton and follow the main quest.
  • Then start Feiton Chaos Dungeon (960+)
  • Keep doing this and upgrade your gear (+15) until you reach item level 1100.

You have finally reached level 3 in the Lost Ark! That means it’s time to visit another continent: Punika. After completing the missions, keep doing the following to go from 1100 to 1370:

  • Chaos Dungeon – Run level 1 Punika (1100+) to get level 1302 gear.
  • Raid Guardian Level 5 (1302+)
  • Abyssal Dungeons: Well of Oreha (1325+)
  • Upgrade your level 3 epic gear to +15 (item level 1370)

So, you finally reached item level 1370+ in an epic T3 set. You may think you’ve already completed all of the Lost Ark endgame content, but there’s actually so much more. Most of them were not released in the western version of the game, so you will have to be a bit patient. Since March 2022, it is possible to participate in the first Abyss raid: Argos. Skipping this is strongly discouraged, as you’ll get your first T3 legendary armor.

Good luck with your progress on the Lost Ark, and keep an eye out for more Abyss Raids and Legion Raids in the coming months!
