Marvel’s Avengers roadmap has been scrapped in favor of short term updates

A reported roadmap for Marvel’s Avengers has apparently been dropped.

Earlier this week, a brand employee at Crystal Dynamics on Marvel’s Avengers took to the game’s official subreddit to shoot down speculation about a roadmap for the game. Instead of focusing on a roadmap, this developer says, the Crystal Dynamics staff is prioritizing more near-term updates for Marvel’s Avengers.

Now Forbes is reporting that there was actually a roadmap for Marvel’s Avengers. A report from the outlet claims that a full 2022 roadmap for the game was in the works and should release sometime last year in 2021. That obviously didn’t happen, and the outlet says a blog post from February Crystal Dynamics’ 2022 release said a roadmap was still being worked on.

Based on new feedback from the brand worker at Crystal Dynamics, this roadmap has apparently been canceled entirely. Forbes’ report might explain why, as the outlet claims most of the development staff have moved on to other projects, including the recently announced Tomb Raider game and the Perfect Dark reboot.

All of this actually comes on the back of Crystal Dynamics announcing two new updates for Marvel’s Avengers earlier this week. The first, scheduled for release in May, will revisit ongoing events to make them more rewarding, while the second update, scheduled for later this year, introduces Jane Foster’s The Mighty Thor to the superhero roster.
