Married at First Sight season 3 aired in 2016, and David was arrested in 2007. According to In Touch Weekly, the official police report said David “smashed his then-girlfriend’s cell phone” and “police witnessed David throw her to the ground,” speaking about his girlfriend at the time. MAFS fans were outraged to know that David got onto the show with a supposedly extensive background check, and yet someone with a criminal record was allowed on.
Now ex-wife, Ashley, did not even know about David’s violent past, putting her in a potentially harmful situation. Married at First Sight fans wondered whether the show knew about his arrest, and after seeing a request form put in for that exact record as they were filming, the show received it and still did not tell Ashley. Fans were livid to see that David even made other appearances on MAFS spin-offs, and it reinforced notions that the audition process for the show is not as thorough as it should be. Ashley does not hold Married at First Sight responsible for her failed marriage, but said that she was angry about not getting “full disclosure” about her husband as she hoped to from the show.
