Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix sci-fi movie Rebel Moon has added four new cast members.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman and Alfonso Herrera have joined the list.
Elwes has starred in movies like The Princess Bride, Saw and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and had a role in season 3 of Stranger Things.
Stoll played the villain Yellowjacket in Marvel’s Ant-Man, and has also appeared in The Many Saints of Newark, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and Billions, and is part of the voice cast of Snyder’s upcoming animated series Twilight of the Gods. , also for Netflix.
Meanwhile, Huisman previously appeared in Game of Thrones, The Flight Attendant and The Haunting of Hill House, while Herrera most recently played cartel boss Javi Elizonndro in Ozark season 4.
They join a great cast that includes Sofia Boutella, Ray Fisher, Rupert Friend, Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam and Jena Malone.
The film grew out of Snyder’s discarded Star Wars storyline and sees a colony threatened by a tyrant named Balisarius. The colonists send Boutella’s character to find warriors from nearby planets to confront the villain.
Elwes will play the role of the king of the galactic empire. Details of the characters of Stoll, Huisman and Herrera are under wraps.
The report also reveals that the project will have two parts, with possible spin-offs. Production will begin this month (April) and run through November.
Snyder has previously stated that Rebel Moon will be on an even larger scale than the Krypton sequence from his Superman Man of Steel movie. “It’s kind of like what we do on Rebel Moon, but with the biggest steroids I can give her,” he revealed. “Honestly, what really interests me [in] with this movie, he’s creating a romantic sci-fi movie on a scale that’s frankly as big a movie as you can make.
